Russia expects APEC lowers tariffs on eco goods - Russian minister

BORACAY /PHILIPPINES/, May 23. /TASS/. Russia hopes the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEK) countries will lower tariffs on supplies of certain ecology goods, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Economic Development Stanislav Voskresensky told TASS commenting on results of the organisation’s meeting of trade ministers. The Russian side, he said, "is watching closely the obligations, the APEC economies undertook in Vladivostok in 2012." Export of the products of the kind is worth "hundreds millions of dollars." The list of goods contains 54 positions. "Those are, for example, kind of equipment like generators, gas turbines, optic equipment and parts," the deputy minister said. "The core markets are China, Korea and the U.S." Besides, the trade ministers discussed preparations for a ministerial conference of the World Trade Organisation, due in Nairobi in December. Another topic was formation of the Asia-Pacific free trade zone, he said. The APEC forum features 21 economies of the world, including Russia, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Canada, China, the U.S., Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Japan. Read more
