Russia hands over two MiG-29 fighter jets to Mongolia

Moscow, November 26. /TASS/. Mongolia has received two MiG-29UB combat-training fighters, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday. "In accordance with the Russian President’s decision, the official ceremony for the handover of two MiG-29UB combat-training fighters to Mongolia will be held on November 26, in Ulaanbaatar within the framework of military-technical assistance. It is fitting, that today, on Mongolia's Independence Day, the Russian Federation is handing over aviation materiel to the fraternal Mongolian people, that will enhance the Mongolian Air Force’s combat capacity, serve as a reliable shield for peace in Mongolia’s skies, and substantially contribute to strengthening Russian-Mongolian military and technical cooperation," the Defense Ministry said. The ministry noted that Russian-Mongolian relations are based on a long history of bilateral cooperation, "featuring traditional, good neighborliness. In addition, they are comprehensive, and further the development-oriented spirit of [their] strategic partnership." In the military sphere, Russia has always participated actively in setting up the Mongolian Armed Forces, including the Mongolian Air Force’s equipment with aviation materiel and personnel training, the Russian Defense Ministry pointed out.
