Russia highly appreciates Singapore’s joint work in multilateral formats - Shoigu

MOSCOW, April 26 /TASS/. The Russian military highly appreciate Singapore’s activities in joint work in multilateral formats, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Dr. Ng Eng Hen on Tuesday. According to Shoigu, the Russian Defense Ministry appreciates Singapore’s stance at discussions held in the formats of ASEAN; the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM -Plus) and the Shangri-La Dialogue. "In practical terms, I can single out naval cooperation. Russian warships regularly call at Singaporean ports," the Russian defense minister said. He also thanked his Singaporean counterpart for attending a meeting of the Russian and ASEAN defense ministers and for taking part in the 5th Moscow International Security Conference to be held on April 27-28 as well as for a decision to deliver a speech at the conference’s plenary session. "The Russian-Singaporean relations rest on solid traditions of friendship and have a rich history. I would like to note that our states have established a good political dialogue," Shoigu said. He suggested discussing prospects for military and military-technological cooperation and for laying down legal foundation for reciprocal interaction. "We hope that the talks will contribute to strengthening friendly ties between our armed forces," Shoigu concluded. Read more
