Russia, India to airdrop troops, eliminate gunmen in Indra-2019 joint drills

VLADIVOSTOK, August 9. /TASS/. A combat helicopters’ operation to airdrop an assault force and missions to eliminate ringleaders will be part of the Indra-2019 Russian-Indian war games, the press office of Russia’s Eastern Military District reported on Friday. "During the Russian-Indian joint multi-service force exercise Indra, the troop’s land grouping plans to practice several tactical episodes, such as reconnaissance and search operations and missions to eliminate the ringleaders of notional rebel groups and to land a tactical airborne assault force," the press office said in a statement. The personnel of Russia’s Eastern Military District will make jumps from helicopters of the Indian Air Force. The exercise’s headquarters will practice the issues of training military command centers in accomplishing joint assignments. The goals of the joint military exercise were defined at a joint planning conference that took place in the city of Ussuriysk in the Russian Far in July this year. The Indra-2019 exercise will take place in December at land and sea ranges and at an airfield of the Indian Air Force. About 300 personnel from Russia’s Eastern Military District will take part in the joint maneuvers. The Indra-2018 drills were held at the Babina training range in the state of Uttar Pradesh (India) and involved 500 troops. Read more
