Russia to present its updated military doctrine in Vienna, Geneva, New York - defence ministry

MOSCOW, February 24. /TASS/. Russian will present its updated military doctrine at a forum of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe /OSCE/ in Vienna and also at forums in Geneva and New York, Deputy Defence Minister Anatoly Antonov said on Tuesday. "We have planned a series of briefings at international events specializing in security and defence issues. Thus, we plan to organize a presentation at an OSCE forum in Vienna and at the Disarmament Conference in Geneva, and on the sidelines of a regular Review Conference for the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons /NPT/ in New York," he said, adding that the document would be referred to military attaches of foreign countries accredited in Moscow. The Russian deputy defence minister said the ministry was closely watching the reaction after the publication of the new editions of the military doctrine. In his words, the majority of remarks had a "well-balanced, objective nature." "However there are certain speculations on that subject typical of te the Western media’s anti-Russian rhetoric. There are open misinterpretations and attempts to picture Russia as a ‘source of military threat,’" he stressed. Read more
