Russia, Singapore to step up developing cooperation

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/. Russia and Singapore discussed cooperation in the coming year, when the countries will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and Singapore’s participation in the Eastern Economic Forum. "Singapore is a major partner of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region in the trade, economic, investment, scientific-technical and other spheres," aide of the Russian president, Anton Kobyakov said on Monday during a meeting with Singapore’s Ambassador to Russia Lim Kheng Hua. "The bilateral relations demonstrate positive dynamics." In 2018, Singapore will chair ASEAN. The parties discussed partnership between Russia and ASEAN - a leading regional integrational union, the Russian representative said. The Singaporean ambassador confirmed his country’s delegation would participate in the upcoming Eastern Economic Forum. Eastern Economic Forum The forum is the biggest international communication platform for cooperation between businesses, political and expert communities from Russia, the Pacific Region and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The event organizers report confirmations received from 24 delegations, including representatives of China, Japan, Australian, Canada and the US, as well as European countries like the UK, Germany and others. In 2016, the Forum gathered 3,500 participants, who presented 111 projects worth total investments of 2.2 trillion rubles ($37 billion). The forum's delegations signed 216 agreements worth 1.85 trillion rubles ($31 billion). Read more
