Russian, Chinese media to contribute to promoting bilateral cooperation - China Radio International chief

BOAO, March 26. /TASS/. Deepening cooperation between media in Russia and China will promote the development of relations between the two countries, head of China Radio International Wang Gengnian told TASS on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia. "The Chinese and Russian media share a long history of cooperation. In recent years, we’ve implemented a large number of initiatives and cooperation projects, together with TASS and other Russian media," he said. "Within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt project, our two countries can fully reveal the advantages and the basis that we’ve formed as a result of this long-standing cooperation," Wang Gengnian said. His remarked were echoed by former Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing. "Looking at my friends from Russia, I immediately recall my favourite author Leo Tolstoy and his War and Peace novel," he said. "It doesn’t matter whether we’re Russians or not, works by Leo Tolstoy are of great importance for the whole world. I hope that media in our two countries will contribute to strengthening peaceful relations between various countries and promote their common development," Li Zhaoxing said. The annual Boao economic forum has got under way earlier on Thursday. This year it brings together about 2,000 politicians, economists and business people. The Russian delegation is expected to be led by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. Read more
