Russian, Cuban lawmakers to make joint statement on 70th anniversary of Victory over Nazism - Kosachev

MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Russia’s Federation Council and Cuba’s National Assembly have agreed to explore the possibility of adopting a joint statement in connection with the forthcoming 70th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism in the Second World War, chairman of the Upper House Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev said on Thursday in the wake of his visit to Cuba. "Cuba and Russia see eye to eye on attempts to falsify history," he wrote in his blog on the official website of the upper house of the Russian parliament. According to the senator, the idea of a joint statement "is to be endorsed in both Moscow and Havana". "But I’m sure that the statement will eventually be made, which is important," he wrote. Kosachev added that Russian and Cuban lawmakers have agreed to promote the idea of inadmissibility of attempts to falsify history during the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union due to take later this month.
