Russian defense minister hopes to boost Russia's military cooperation with Qatar

DOHA, October 25. /TASS/. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu hopes to strengthen military cooperation with Qatar, he said at a meeting with Qatari counterpart Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah on Wednesday. "I hope that today’s talks will help strengthen our military cooperation and cooperation in the defense technology sector," Shoigu said, adding that he intended to discuss regional and global security and particularly, the Syria crisis. Shoigu thanked Qatari counterpart for personal participation in the International Military-Technical Forum Army-2017. On the sidelines of the forum, the two ministers held constructive talks on military cooperation and on defense technology cooperation, also focusing on topical issues of regional security. The Russian defense minister said he was honored to receive an invitation to visit Qatar and thanked Qatari counterpart Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah for this invitation. The Qatari defense minister noted that Shoigu’s visit was a sign that Qatar’s friends in Russia were keen to develop and boost cooperation between their countries. Read more
