Russian defense minister: world witnesses decreasing weapons use threshold

MOSCOW, April 27. /TASS/. The world has not become any securer since the previous Moscow conference on security while the threshold of weapons use is decreasing, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday. "The world has not become any securer since our previous meeting. Despite the joint efforts by Russia and other states, the situation in some regions is far from stability. Combat fighting is under way and military bloc thinking is developing. There can be seen the persistent course of some countries towards dictating their will to the international community, using their military advantage. The threshold of weapons use is obviously decreasing," Shoigu said at the 5th Moscow conference on international security. Projects dangerous for the destinies of the world continue to be carried out for the plans of "the global missile defense and an instant global strike, including with the use of precision non-nuclear weapons of the large operational radius comparable with nuclear weapons by their effect," the Russian defense minister said. "This undermines the already fragile architecture of international and regional security, he added. "In this situation, new proposals are in demand as never before on strengthening equitable and mutually respected military cooperation, which should contribute to the elaboration of explicit and responsible political decisions in the sphere of stability at the global and regional levels," the Russian defense minister said.
