Russian diplomats back Russian companies’ advance on Latin American, African markets

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. Russian diplomats helped Russian companies gain a stronger foothold on Latin American markets in such areas as energy, peaceful use of atomic energy and military technical cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in an annual performance report for 2014 published at the ministry's website. "[Russian diplomats] backed the presence of Russian companies on the promising markets of Latin American and Caribbean countries, first of all in such strategic sectors as peaceful use of nuclear energy (Argentina), energy (Ecuador), military technical cooperation (Brazil, Venezuela, Peru)," the document says. Apart from that, efforts were taken to enhance Russia’s presence on African markets. "Measures were taken to enliven mutually beneficial trade-and-economic ties with African countries, to create conditions for the use of the African market potential in the interests of the development and modernization of the Russian economy," the report says.
