Russian Dy FM in Tehran for consultations on JCPOA

Tehran, May 29, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister of Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov arrived in Tehran on Wednesday for consultations on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. On his one-day visit to Iran, he is going to meet with Iranian officials to talk about JCPOA, he told media. Following Iranian complaints over US sabotage of the nuclear deal and inaction of the European states parties to the JCPOA to support trade with Iran, the Russian government demanded the JCPOA arbitral joint commission to convene to hear the Iranian complaints. As per the JCPOA, signed in January 2015 and endorsed by the UN Security Council Resolution 2231, Tehran agreed to limit its peaceful nuclear activities in return for lifting sanctions and some other economic benefits and security guarantees. However, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the deal and restored sanctions on Iran in total disregard of the International Law and the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 in May 2018.
