Russian Pacific Fleet warships arrive in Indonesia for Komodo 2016 naval drills

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. A group of Russia’s Pacific Fleet warships has arrived in Indonesia for the international naval drills dubbed Komodo 2016, Eastern Military District spokesman Roman Martov said on Monday. "A group of Pacific Fleet warships led by Captain 1st Rank Alexander Potapov and comprising the large anti-submarine warfare ship Admiral Vinogradov, the ocean-going rescue vessel Fotiy Krylov and the tanker Irkut that, which were on combat duty missions in the Pacific, has called at the Indonesian port of Padang on an unofficial visit," the spokesman said. The naval drills will be held on April 12-18 and the basic episodes will be practiced on April 14. Russian sailors are taking part in these drills for the second time, the officer said. A group of Pacific Fleet warships left Vladivostok on March 28. As the Eastern Military District spokesman said the warships plan to make unofficial visits to five states and take part in two multinational exercises that will be held by countries of the Asia-Pacific region in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
