Russian PM officially visits Thailand

BANGKOK, April 8 (TNA) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is paying a two-day official visit to Thailand, scheduled for April 7-8, at the invitation of his Thai counterpart General Prayut Chan-ocha, making him the first Russian prime minister to have visited Thailand over the past 25 years. The visiting Russian prime minister was officially received and welcomed by his Thai counterpart at Bangkok's Government House on Wednesday morning, during which he inspected the guards of honor and met Thai Cabinet members and foreign diplomats stationing in Thailand. The visiting Russian and Thai premiers then held bilateral talks on strengthening ties and cooperation between the two allied countries in all dimensions, including political, economic, security and social spheres, as well as other issues of mutual interest. Both sides later witnessed the signing of five agreements between Russia and Thailand, including memoranda of understanding (MOU) on bilateral cooperation on energy, cultures, anti-narcotics and investment, as well as an accord on joint tourism activities 2015-2017.
