Russian President, Qatari Foreign Minister to discuss crude prices, no agreements expected - Kremlin spokesman

SOCHI, May 6. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Qatar’s Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani will discuss the current situation on the oil market, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday, adding though that no agreements regarding the issue of limiting crude production are expected to be reached at the meeting. "It’s unlikely there will be any agreements reached regarding the issue as Russia and Qatar cannot make such agreements on their own," he said. "We’re aware of the fact that it (the discussion on potential freeze of oil output by key oil-producing nations - TASS) is a very complicated cooperative process," Peskov said. "However, one cannot rule out there will be some exchange of ideas regarding energy prices today," he added. After the failed talks regarding the problem between OPEC member-states, Russia and some other countries in Qatar’s Doha "it’s necessary to make a fresh start in many things, of course," Peskov said, adding that it’s not Russia’s turn but the turn of its "certain partners in this process".
