Russian State Duma to review ratifying agreement on Kyrgyzstan's joining EAEU July 1

MOSCOW, June 29. /TASS/. The Russian State Duma is going to review the question of ratifying the agreement on Kyrgyzstan joining the EAEU (the Eurasian Economic Union) on July 1, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and links with compatriots Leonid Slutskiy said Monday. The Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced on June 25 the agreement on Kyrgyzstan joining the EAEU and the relevant protocols - on adding changes to the basic EAEU agreement, on terms and transitional rules and on Armenia joining the Union - for consideration by the State Duma. These protocols, according to the supporting documents, are an integral part of the agreement with Kyrgyzstan. The agreement, signed in Moscow on May 8, 2015 is the essential document that defines the terms of Kyrgyzstan joining the EAEU. In particular, the transitional periods on Kyrgyzstan applying certain points of the union agreements are defined. It stipulates that from the date of entry into force of the treaty, Kyrgyzstan will use a single foreign economic activity commodity nomenclature of the EAEU, the common customs tariff will take effect after the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council adopts the decision to abolish the customs control of goods and vehicles transported across the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border. The agreement also regulates the issues of compliance with a single trade regime and distribution of import customs duties. Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on the EAEU on May 29, 2014 in Astana. The agreement entered into force on January 1, 2015. Armenia joined the Union in December, 2014. Read more
