MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. After Moscow’s suspension of all flights to Egypt, Russian tourists have been looking for other sunny options, and Thailand, India and Vietnam were among the top destinations last month, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said on Monday. "Thailand’s share surged to a record high in November 2015. The overall number of requests for the country stood at 20.7 percent, 4.1 percent more than in November 2014 and 8.3 percent more than in October 2015," the association said. Another popular destination is India, which saw an increase in the Russian tourism demand by 3.9 percent compared with October. The share of requests for tour packages in India more than doubled compared with November 2014. The demand for Vietnam tours also grew by 3.8 percent compared with October," the ATOR says. According to the association, Turkey (30.8 percent) and Egypt (21.8 percent) were the Russians’ most preferred destinations over the past 11 months of 2015. The other popular countries for Russians were Thailand (6.7 percent), Greece (5 percent), Spain (4.5 percent), Vietnam (3 percent), Cyprus (3 percent), the United Arab Emirates (2.5 percent) and India (2 percent).
