Russian vessels to take part in military parade in Thailand

BANGKOK, October 6. /TASS/. Vessels of Russia’s Pacific Fleet will take part in a military and naval parade in Thailand on November 19 on occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Russia’s Embassy in Bangkok said on Friday. The parade will be seen in the resort city of Pattaya, and various festive events by the Royal Navy will be held in its outskirts starting from November 14. The holiday will end on November 19 by a grand military and naval parade in Pattaya. "A task force of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy consisting of a large antisubmarine ship Admiral Panteleyev and support vessel Boris Butoma is expected to take part," the diplomatic mission said. According to the organizers, some 40 ships from ASEAN countries, and also Australia, Bangladesh, India, South Korea, Japan and other countries will take part in the parade. Some 10,000 sailors will participate in the event. ASEAN was set up on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok. The organization brings together Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Russia has been ASEAN’s dialogue partner since 1996.
