S. Korean Ambassador Visits Al Aween Center

Doha, January 04 (QNA) - HE the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Qatar Chang See Jeong, on Wednesday visited Al Aween Social Rehabilitation Center in Doha, to get acquainted with the center's goals, message and its treatment and therapeutic views. The concerned managers and officials have presented an explained explanation about the service programme the said center provides for maintaining and safeguarding the society and enhancing the capabilities of its staff and rehabilitating the targeted categories. HE the South Korean Ambassador Chang See Jeong in turn lauded such services and highlighted its due keenness to provide high quality rehabilitative and therapeutic services in complete secrecy noting that his visit has given a positive concept about the tremendous and mammoth modus operandi of the Al Aween Social Rehabilitation Center. It is worth to mention that Al Aween Social Rehabilitation Center, was established in 2006 by HH Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser,the wife of HH the Emir of Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani with a view to serve the public interest. The center s website states that Al Aween specializes in the treatment of disorders such as addiction to alcohol, drug and Internet use, as well as deviant and unusual sexual behaviors. The website hosts a document that lists homosexuality as one of several "behavioural disorders and negative tendencies." To treat its patients, the clinic offers a variety of "therapeutic units" and counseling. Earlier on the 28th of December, 2011, the Al Aween center organized a seminar for 30 Islamic preachers from Guiding and preaching Department in Al Awkaf ministry, in order to introduce the center objectives to the mosques' Imams and to invest their skills and potentials to disseminate the center goals into a larger social group. This seminar discussed many subjects and lectures by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Attiyah, Social consultant in SRC, regarding the skills of an effective social guider; Also by Dr. Wael Mahmoud, Psychiatric consultant in SRC, who leaded a lecture about addiction behavior. Dr. Ibrahim declared that practicing the social or psychic guidance have to be based on two elements: The science which is has to be included within the guider profession and the personal skills of how to hire science in his experimental field.
