Sabah Quake: Malaysian Minister Visits TKPS To Extend Condolences To Victims

By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Abdullah SINGAPORE, June 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Tuesday visited Tanjong Katong Primary School (TKPS), where a tribute centre was set up for victims of the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that hit east Malaysian state, Sabah. In the tragedy last Friday, eight Singaporeans, one of whom was a teacher and six pupils from the school who were on an overseas learning trip as well as an adventure guide were killed at Mount Kinabalu. Two other Singaporeans, student Navdeep Singh Jaryal s/o Raj Kumar and teacher Mohammad Ghazi Mohamed are still missing. Khairy, accompanied by his wife Nori Tun Abdullah, extended his condolences to the victims of the quake on behalf of the Malaysian people and the government. Meanwhile, Singaporeans from all walks of life continue to pen their well-wishes and condolences to victims and their families. As well-wishers continue to stream into TKPS, the Ministry of Education said, the condolence site will continue to be open to members of the public until this Thursday (June 11).
