Safety boost meeting as Bangkok will organise several major events

BANGKOK, Nov 17 (TNA) -- Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra on Tuesday presided over a meeting with high-ranking officers of several government agencies to strengthen security in the Thai capital following deadly attacks in the French capital last Friday. Mr Sukhumbhand told journalists that the coordinated attacks in Paris had caused worrisome to people living in big cities in the world and Tuesday’s meeting was aimed at seeking safety measures as Bangkok will hold several important events from now until April next year. At least 129 people were killed and more than 300 wounded in the attacks in Paris last Friday. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is due to organise and host several events including the One Young World Summit 2015, Loy Krathong annual festival, His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday celebrations, ‘Bike for Dad’ and the Royal cremation for the late Supreme Patriarch. Those attending Tuesday’s meeting were officers from the BMA, Defence and the Interior ministries, the Royal Thai Police and from several related security agencies. (TNA)
