Sail Komodo To be Held In E Nusa Tenggara In September 2013

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, Jan 14 (ANTARA) - Sail Komodo will be organized in East Nusa Tenggara Province on September 7 or 15 this year, according to East Nusa Tenggara Governor Frans Lebu Raya. All stake holders must help promote the international event and the budget for the promotion was available, Lebu Raya said here on Monday. Last year, Rp1,5 billion was allocated for the promotion of Sail Komodo maritime event. The Indonesian government is intensifying the promotion of East Nusa Tenggara as a world touristic destination by organizing Sail Komodo in Labuhan Bajo, near Komodo Island. "The region has very prospective tourism potential, and we will promote it through the sail event," the governor said. The Komodo national park which covers Komodo, Rinca and Padar islands in West Manggarai district, East Nusa Tenggara, is home to the Komodo dragons (Varanus komodoensis). The Komodo park has been inscribed in UNESCO`s World Natural Heritage list since 1991. Apart from Komodo dragon, NTT has some other tourist attractions such as three colour Lake Kelimutu in Ende, Maumere Bay marine park and another marine park on Kepa Isle in Alor District, which are considered among the best in the world.
