Salary increase as New Year Gift for Thai government officials

BANGKOK, December 10 (TNA) - The Bureau of the Budget expects the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) should pass laws to raise government officials’ monthly incomes in time for the upcoming New Year Festival. The Bureau of the Budget said on Wednesday after the Cabinet approved on Tuesday a salary hike for government officials, six laws concerning salaries at government agencies would be amended to legalize the increase. The laws govern the salaries of civil servants, soldiers, police and teachers. After being scrutinized by the Council of State, the amendments will be submitted to the NLA, which is expected to pass them before the New Year Festival so that the salary increase will be a New Year gift.
