Sangihe District Government To Build Food Warehouse In Border

Sangihe, N Sulawesi, Mar 15 (Antara) - Kepulauan Sangihe district government in North Sulawesi province has planned to build a food warehouse in the border area. "Sangihe district government is working to build a food warehouse in the border region," Assistant development administration of Kepulauan Sangihe district, Benhard Pilat, said in Tahuna sub-district in Kepulauan Sangihe district on Tuesday. He stated that the food warehouse will be built in Kepulauan Marore sub-district, which is directly adjacent to the Philippines. "We have surveyed the construction site of the food warehouse on Kawio island Kawio in Marore sub-district," he noted. He remarked that the government of Kawio village has provided land for the construction of the warehouse, which will be donated to the district government. "The land for the construction of the warehouse has been provided by Kawio village government and society," he noted. According to Pilat, the presence of the food warehouse is essential to meet the food needs of the society of Kepulauan Marore sub-district, which is located far away from Tahuna, Kepulauan Sangihe district capital. "The rise in sea level often makes it difficult for the people to get foodstuffs," he added. The presence of a food warehouse would be a solution to provide foodstuffs for the local community when they cannot sail to the Sangihe district because of dangerous sea waves. "The local government will use the food warehouse to provide foodstuffs to meet the local community's needs," he asserted.
