Sari-Astrakhan direct flight to operate soon

Moscow, Feb 19, IRNA – Iran and Russia signed an agreement on Thursday according to which direct flight between Sari, the capital city of Iranian northern province of Mazandaran and Russian port city of Astrakhan is to be established in May. The agreement was signed in a meeting in Astrakhan attended by Governor-General of Mazandaran Rabii Fallah Jelodar and local officials of Astrakhan. During the meeting, the two sides underlined the need for further enhancement of tourism cooperation between the two provinces. The direct flight is expected to give a boost to relations between these two strategic regions of Iran and Russia. Last year, over 2,000 Russian tourists from Astrakhan visited Sari. The number of visitors is expected to rise with the launch of the direct flight.
