SCH Marks World Vaccination Week

Doha, April 23 (QNA) -The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) is to take part in the World Vaccination Week, opening on April 24-30 under the slogan '' partnership for vaccination''. The SCH celebrates the event in its second year in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the Primary Healthcare, the Supreme Council Of Education (SCE) and Qatar Petroleum (QP). The SCH seeks to spread and raise awareness of the public to the importance of vaccination and how best to benefit the population most vulnerable to the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases. The WHO has requested all member countries, including Qatar to keep track of their immunization process. A vaccine defaulted child was immunized as part of this programme, which will also include workshops and lectures on the importance of vaccination. Some corners will be assigned at commercial centres to raise awareness among the general public on this issue. It is worth mentioning that the Initiative aims at improving the dissemination of information about the importance of immunization, and enhancing community demand for immunization services. This is in addition to a package of inventive ideas and practical solutions of how to reach people who are at risk. The Initiative also aims at renewing the commitment of the decision and policy makers to support the vaccination services by all available health systems, besides encouraging all categories of the community to come forward to immunize their children. More than a hundred countries share this initiative in organizing this week in all three regions. Immunisation is one of the most successful and effective interventions which contributed substantially in bringing down the rates of diseases. It also represents an adequate protection against serious diseases for all ages, from infants to adults. As for adults, immunization is an effective protection against life threatening diseases like influenza, meningitis, and cervical cancer. More than 100 world countries will participate in the event with a view to contributing to the reduction of morbidity and mortality rates through vaccination and avoid a lot of diseases threatening human life, such as influenza, meningitis, and cervical cancer.
