Scholars to hold seminar on Rumi in Tehran

TEHRAN,Dec.30(MNA) -- A brief history of the Persian mystic and poet Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi (1207-1273) will be discussed during a seminar at the Book City Institute on Tuesday. Adnan Karaismailoglu of Kirikkale University in Turkey and Iranian scholar Tofiq Sobhani will attend the seminar entitled “Rumi over Time”, the institute announced on Saturday. The seminar will commence at 4:30 p.m. Karaismailoglu, 53, has translated Rumi’s masterpiece the Masnavi-e Manavi into Turkish. Sobhani is the compiler of one of the reliable versions of the Masnavi-e Manavi and is also translator of “Mawlana Rumi”, a biography written by Indian scholar Allamah Shibli Nomani (1857-1914). He has also translated “Rumi’s Prayers” complied by Turkish scholar Hafiz Huseyin Top and Celaleddin Bakir Celebi, who was the 21st generation grandson of Rumi.
