School big cleaning after tuberculosis infection

Bangkok, Nov 24 – Two students of Wat Suthiwararam School were infected with tuberculosis and cleaning began there in the afternoon. Apistha Kitti-ekachai, acting director of the school, told the Thai News Agency that two male students had high fever early this week and a doctor already confirmed they had tuberculosis. One of them was infected at the pleura and would not transmit the disease, he said. The other student was infected in the lungs and could transmit the disease. The student already took a sick leave. His parents said he had tuberculosis for a while and would have taken complete doses of medication in January. The school management had all 3,000 other students checked. Of them, 200 students had fever and coughed. Teachers and the 200 students had their lungs X-rayed and they were not infected, Mr Apistha said. He said the school would be cleaned in the afternoon. Its air-conditioning system would be turned off until next Tuesday for cleaning.(TNA)
