School in Udon Thani believed to hold highest number of twin students

UDON THANI, June 25 (TNA) -- Official from the Guiness Wolrd of Records are preparing to visit the Ban Mak Khaeng School in Thailand's northeastern province of Udon Thani, after reports said the school could break the world's records by having the highest number of students who are twins. The story became a national sensation over night, when a report said one particular school in Thailand currently has 29 pairs of twin students studying there. Thai News Agency (TNA) has visited the school and found that the number of twin students has gone up to 30 pairs, comprising of 13 pairs of male twins, 14 pairs of females twins, and 3 pairs of male-female twins. The school informed that the number of twin students had once stood at 32 pairs, but two pairs of the students had moved away. The school further said the there are twin students in almost every class year, but grade 3 has the highest number of twin students of six pairs. The school's director noted that officials from the Guinness World of Records are set to visit the school next week, though he has no clue of the exact procedure of what would be done. He said apart from coincidences which caused the school to see a very high number of twin students, he thinks that the expansion of the school to cover kindergarten to high school levels and the fact that most parents are quite satisfied with the school's curriculum have helped to increase the number of twin students here. Hospital data in Udon Thani province revealed that over 700 pairs of twins were born in the province between 2007-2015, or around an average of 70 every year. Meanwhile, 35 pairs of twins have already been born in the province since the beginning of the year until May. (TNA)
