SCO to issue statement calling for resolute fight against drug trafficking - Lavrov

VIENNA, March 14. /TASS/. Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states will issue a joint statement during the 62nd session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), which will emphasize the need to resolutely fight against the drug threat at the global level, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday. "SCO countries will issue a special joint statement during the current session, clarifying their common stance and support for a resolute and uncompromising fight against the global drug threat," Lavrov said at an event dubbed "United Nations and SCO in the Fight Against Drugs: Cooperation for Strengthening International Drug Control." The Russian top diplomat was confident that boosting cooperation between the SCO and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime would make a useful contribution "to building a world free of drugs."
