Search continued for two missing Koreans in speedboat accident in Thai South

KRABI, THAILAND, October 21 (TNA) - Search for two missing Korean tourists has been continued for the third day, after last Sunday's collision of a speedboat and a trawler during the speedboat's return trip from the resort Phi Phi Islands off Krabi Province in the Thai South. Thai marine police, as well as fishery and Marine Department authorities kept deploying their patrol boats on Tuesday to look for the two missing Koreans, who are among passengers of the ill-fated speedboat. Relatives of the two missing Koreans, in the meantime, arrived in Krabi to follow up the search. Tuesday's search was conducted in a radius of 4-5 nautical miles from the collision site near the Musang rock pile amid big waves that obstructed the mission. The concerned authorities also asked those at nearby coasts to help look for the two missing Korean tourists, as their bodies might be washed ashore. After last Sunday's accident, in which many passengers of the speedboat were also injured, some of them were reported in critical conditions, marine officers in Krabi are intensifying safety measures on tour boats on the Phi Phi Islands, including a strict requirement for passengers to wear life jackets, checking speedboats' conditions and their equipment, licences and drivers.
