Security forces seize illegal arms in Narathiwat

BANGKOK, December 20 (TNA) - Security forces in Thailand’s southern province of Narathiwat on Tuesday seized a number of weapons thought to be used in violent attacks during the New Year festival. The weapons were found hidden underground a house in a rubber plantation in Ruso district’s Ban Kuyi village. Authorities knew the location after being tipped off by an Abdulromae Hareh, an RKK member who was arrested by local authorities on Monday. The seized weapons include four M16 rifles, one HK rifle, one carbine, more than 200 rounds of bullets, three bags of urea fertilizer, and 94 firecrackers. Police also learned from Abdulromae that the weapons would be used to launch attacks during the New Year festival. (TNA)
