Security stepped up in Thai far South

PATTANI, April 26 (TNA) - Security measures have been beefed up in the Thai far South, as next Monday marks the 10th anniversary of the Krue Se Mosque incident in Pattani Province, in which 32 people were killed in violent clashes between state security forces and suspected insurgents. In Songkhla Province, Governor Krisada Bunrat told journalists on Saturday that he has also ordered tighter security measures in his province to prevent any untoward incident, including search of cars, motorcycles and suspected looking persons travelling in Hat Yai and other areas in the province, as part of the stepped up security measures. According to the governor, provincial administrative officials have also been asked to work together with local security authorities to provide security in Hat Yai and Sadao Districts, as well as other areas in the province.
