Seminar On Iran-Turkey Cultural, Historical Ties Ends

Ankara, May 11, IRNA – ˈEighth Seminar on Iran-Turkey Cultural and Historical Tiesˈ wound up in the Turkish city of Bursa Saturday. The event aimed at consolidating bilateral ties between Tehran and Ankara was sponsored by Iranˈs Cultural Office and Turkeyˈs High Foundation of History. In the meantime, Iranˈs cultural attaché, Abolhasan Khalaj-Monfared told the seminar that Iran and Turkey as the two great countries in the region play constructive role for international peace and security. Topics for discussion in the seminar included role of Islam in modernizing the Iranian and Turkish societies, political situation of Iran and Turkey in Islamic civilization, The Iranian and Turkish role to counter colonialism and imperialism, and that of Iran and Turkeyˈs non-governmental institutions in Islamic culture and civilization, obstacles in the way of cultural convergence between Iran and Turkey. Meanwhile, head of the Turkish foundation, Matin Holagu said in his inaugural speech on Thursday that despite ups and downs in cultural relations, currently, the two countries have excellent diplomatic ties. Bursa is a city in Turkey to where Imam Khomeini, founder of the Iranˈs 1979 Islamic Revolution, was exiled in pre-revolution era./end
