Seminar on resolving traffic problems

BANGKOK, September 27 (TNA) - The Transport Ministry on Saturday organised a seminar to discuss vital projects, especially on road construction in significant economic areas and on resolution to traffic problems in major Thai cities. Participants in the seminar also discussed other issues, including linking public transportation in urban and constructing domestic transportation systems to connect with important gateways for trade, industrial estates and harbours. Transport Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong told journalists that the Thai government is determined to improve and expand transportation networks nationwide and to neighbouring countries, while both existing and long-term cruxes will be resolved. On October 4, the ministry will hold a workshop on developing air transportation, while another workshop will be organised on October 11, in which participants will discuss how to develop maritime transportation. According to the transport minister, his ministry will, afterward, summarise all meetings and set up a working committee tasked with coordinating with concerned agencies. The ministry’s Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning Office, meanwhile, presented a report on "Developing Thailand’s Transportation Basic Infrastructure between 2015–2022", containing five strategies. Other concerned agencies under the ministry, as well as other concerned organisations will also raised their problems, recommendations and how to solve the cruxes. (TNA)
