Send Names Of Foreign Preachers To Police For Vetting - Police

SHAH ALAM, (Selangor, Malaysia) April 28 (Bernama) -- State Islamic Religious Departments have been urged to submit the names of foreign preachers to police for vetting before allowing them to conduct lectures. Bukit Aman Counter Terrorism Division principal assistant director, Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the move was aimed at curbing the spread of extremism by those linked to the IS militant group. "Guest speakers from abroad have to go through police vetting. State Islamic Religious Departments must consult the police before allowing them to preach. "Its important to curb the arrival of those who preach extremism as it is contrary to true Islamic teachings," he said after presenting a briefing titled 'Threats of IS' organised by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council here, Monday. --BERNAMA
