Senior government officials move to new offices as ordered by NCPO

BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) - Senior government officials have moved to their new offices as ordered by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). Those who moved to their new offices on Thursday morning include former national police chief Police General Adul Saengsingkaew, who was ordered to work at the Prime Minister's Office as a deputy chief of the NCPO overseeing special affairs. Police General Adul declined to give any comment on the rumor that he wanted to resign as the national police chief, saying only that he is ready to work as assigned. Deputy Permanent Secretary for Interior M.L. Panadda Diskul, who is now Acting Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister's Office as ordered by the NCPO, told journalists that he would work with neutrality and try to promote national reconciliation. M.L. Panadda said that government officials should not be viewed as taking sides with any particular party and he would discuss the continuation of work with Tongthong Chandransu, who was removed as the permanent secretary for the Prime Minister's Office to work in an inactive position at the office. Bangkok's Government House is now reopened for relevant officials to work after being seized by demonstrators of the People's Democratic Reform Committee over the past six months, as the cleanup of the government seat started on Thursday morning so that it can fully function from June 2 onwards. Meanwhile, Admiral Narong Pipattanasai, a deputy chief of the NCPO overseeing social affairs, had his first meeting with authorities of the Ministry of Education, during which he was expected to lay down educational policies, especially those on urgent and expensive projects including the procurement of tablet computers for students, an insufficient student loan fund, educational quality and the ministry's administrative structure.
