Seoul to continue buying oil from Tehran

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA - New South Korean ambassador to Tehran, said that South Korea will continue to buy oil from Iran despite the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Yo Chang Hian in a meeting with head of Majlis Research Center, Kazem Jalali, on Sunday said that the South Korean embassy in Tehran would work to strengthen relations between the two countries. 'Development of relations with Iran is very important for South Korea, and we welcome the expansion of communications and cooperation with Iran in all fields,' he stated. Referring to Iran's historic relations with South Korea, Jalali, for his part, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the development and strengthening of its relations with South Korea in various areas. A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's parliament further stated,'The views of Iranian government and the people of Iran towards South Korea have always been positive, and this approach has led to continuation of relations between the two countries despite political upheavals.
