Several wounded in fresh bomb explosions

BANGKOK, January 19 (TNA) - Several people were wounded after two bombs exploded near one of the major rally sites of anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) in central Bangkok on Sunday afternoon. The first bomb exploded behind the PDRC platform at the Victory Monument while the second one occurred about 50 metres away and near the state-run Ratchavithi Hospital. Eyewitnesses said the second bomb also exploded near a row of shops, wounding at least five traders. All of them were later sent to nearby Ratchavithi and Phra Mongkutklao hospitals for treatment. The Erawan Emergency Medical Services later annouced that at least 28 people were injured by the blasts, inclduing a journalist. The bombers were still at large. Thavorn Senniam, a core leader of PDRC and tasked with responsibility for the protesting site at the Victory Monument, later inspected the scene and was informed by PDRC guards that around four to five bombers dressed in green shirt and rode motorcycles into the areas shortly before the blasts occurred. PDRC guards then followed the suspects but could not catch them. (TNA)
