Sheikh Salman says Russia to host 2018 FIFA World Cup decently

PARIS, February 10. /TASS/. President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa told TASS that Russia was best suit to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup since it proved previously organizing other international events. "Of course, we know that you always try to judge your success by the past tournament, but I have no doubt, that the next tournament will be even a greater success than the previous one," Sheikh Salman said in an interview with TASS. "We're all looking forward for a terrific World Cup in Russia," Sheikh Salman, who is one of the five candidates running for the post of FIFA presidency, said. "In all the World Cups we see the success rate going higher and higher, and I think Russia 2018 is no exception," he said. Russia won the bid to host the 2018 World Cup at the FIFA Congress in Guatemala on December 4, 2010 in a tight race against the bid from England, the joint bid from Portugal and Spain and the joint bid on behalf of Belgium and the Netherlands. The country later selected 11 host cities to be the venues for the matches of the 2018 World Cup and they are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara. The matches of the 2018 World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums located in the 11 mentioned above cities across Russia.
