Shiraz to become int’l city of handicrafts

Shiraz, May 12, IRNA – Case of Shiraz handicrafts globalization is being prepared to be sent to World Council of Handicrafts, said deputy head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization. Pouya Mahmoudian made the remarks at a ceremony concluding a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an Austrian company on Saturday. Designation of Shiraz as the city of international handicrafts means that Iran enjoys unending capacity in the field of art and artistic assets as well as nurturing peerless masters of arts. Iran as the third country producing handicrafts and first in terms of global registration cities and villages has attracted attention of many activists of handicrafts from around the world, he said. Today, handicrafts play a crucial role in the economy of art and creative industries, he said. Iran’s handicrafts are sold via online sales, holding exhibitions overseas and exports, Mahmouian said.
