PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia) May 17 (Bernama) – Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner Shukri Abdull has been named to head the MACC, taking over from Dzulkifli Ahmad who resigned from the post last Monday.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad made the announcement at a press conference Thursday after a meeting of the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council here.

Shukri went on mandatory retirement in 2016 when he was investigating several high-profile cases, including those related to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Dzulkifli returned to serve at the Attorney-General’s Chambers last Tuesday.
