Shura Council hails Bahrain’s religious freedom

Manama, Sept.22 (BNA): The Shura Council condemned hostile acts which marred the Ashoora season, aimed at defaming the leadership, sowing disunity and fueling sectarian strife. It paid tribute to His Majesty the King, the architect of Bahrain’s development and the symbol of its progress and prosperity, stressing royal directives to all ministries and government departments to provide all facilities during the Ashoora season. In a statement today, the Shura Council paid tribute to HM the King, for following up personality services and security during the Ashoora season, to overcome any challenges or difficulties. It stressed Bahrain’s longstanding respect of faiths, religious schools and sects, adding that the right to exercise religious rituals is guaranteed, within the framework of the law. It slammed the violations which marred the Ashoora season at one of the community centres (ma’atams), slamming road blocking and the disruption of the traffic, in breach of the law and norms. The Shura Council hailed the efforts exerted by the Minister of Interior Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa and the security agencies, which contributed to the success of the Ashoora season. It urged all concerned parties not to exploit the atmosphere of freedom and openness which prevails in Bahrain in the prosperous era of HM the King or break the law. It called upon scholars and Mosque Imams to assume their role to guide people and avoid all that sparks sectarian strife, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect Bahrain and bless the Kingdom with progress and prosperity, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
