Singapore To Contribute $100,000 Humanitarian Aid For Flood Victims In Malaysia

SINGAPORE, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The Singapore government will be making a contribution of US$75,656 (S$100,000) to support flood relief efforts in Malaysia. The funds will be channelled through the Singapore Red Cross to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society. The Singapore government will also provide water purification units to help in the production of clean drinking water for the flood victims, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong called Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak Monday afternoon to express Singapore’s concern for the flood victims and to offer assistance. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law, K Shanmugam, Minister for Transport, Lui Tuck Yew and Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen had also spoken to their Malaysian counterparts to express concern and offer assistance. -- BERNAMA
