Singapore, Malaysia's Terengganu Have Fruitful Discussion To Enhance Ties

SINGAPORE, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and Terengganu Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman had a fruitful discussion on ways to promote economic interaction and people-to-people ties between the republic and the Malaysian east coast state. A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here, said the discussion took place when Masagos called on the menteri besar at his residence. Masagos was on a two-day working visit to Malaysia's east coast state of Terengganu, which ended Wednesday. Thereafter, Masagos had an audience with the Ruler of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, during which he affirmed the warm relations between Terengganu and Singapore. Masagos was briefed by the State Economic Planning Unit and the East Coast Economic Region Development Council on their plans to stimulate growth and development in Terengganu. The two agencies are keen to attract more Singapore investment into Terengganu, especially in the development of tourism infrastructure. Later in the evening, Masagos attended the inaugural Terengganu Peranakan Festival as a guest of its organiser, the Terengganu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. While in Terengganu, Masagos also met with local officials and business leaders, including from the Terengganu Malay Chamber of Commerce, and exchanged ideas on how to strengthen business-to-business cooperation between Singapore and Terengganu.
