Singapore Wants Concrete Operational Details On Cloud Seeding Over Sungai Layang Dam Airspace

JOHOR BAHARU (Johor, Malaysia), Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The Singapore Government wants the Malaysia's Johor state government to provide concrete operational details on the cloud-seeding operations which are expected to begin before the water ration period is expected to be lifted on Sept 15. The Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Baharu city of the southern state said they had yet to receive any detail on the operations, thus far. "We hope to receive the necessary details as soon as possible, so that the civil aviation authorities of both sides can then coordinate the operations. "We will work with Malaysia to expedite the cloud-seeding operations once we receive the details," it said in a statement here Thursday night. It was responding to the latest reports by Johor Works, Regional and Rural Development Committee chairman Hasni Mohammad as saying that due to the help and cooperation of the Singapore Consulate-General office in Johor Baharu, the state goverment need not wait for an official reply and only notified the date and method of the operation. The cloud-seeding operation in the airspace over the Sungai Layang dam is crucial as the water level had dropped to 18.99 metres from the normal level of 26.6 metres on Tuesday. The water ration will only be lifted if the water level exceeds a reading of 23.5 metres. --BERNAMA
