Singaporean cargo ship runs aground at Songkhla port

SONGKHLA, November 29 (TNA) - A Singapore-registered cargo ship early Saturday ran aground at Songkhla deep sea port, and attempts to tow it to deeper waters failed due to the low tide, according to Wattanachai Ruanglertpanyakul, port director. The incident occurred shortly after the ‘Kiti Bhum’ had departed the port, said Wattanachai, nothing that it did not affect marine traffic near the port. He said two ships were deployed to tow the cargo ship which was struck in shallow sea about one kilometer away from the port but they did not succeed. A fresh attempt will be made late Saturday during high tide, he added. (TNA)
