Singaporean FM stresses Iran’ key regional, international role

Tehran, April 17, IRNA -- Singaporean Foreign Minister K. Shanmugam underlined Iran’s key role in the region and the world, and expressed the hope that the talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) would be fruitful. ˈIf we look at Iran’s status from a historical perspective, we will realize its key role,” Shanmugam told reporters after his meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Singapore Javad Ansari on Wednesday. He pointed to Iran’s population and quality of life in Iran, and said that Iran’s several-thousand-year-old history and culture show that the country has always been in a dynamic and progressive state. Iranian and Singaporean officials have recently increased their contacts in a move to boost bilateral trade ties and cooperation.
