Single document on security mechanisms should be developed for Asia Pacific - Russian deputy defense minister

BEIJING, October 11. /TASS/. A common document on security mechanisms should be devised for the Asia Pacific countries, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said on Tuesday at the Xiangshan security forum in China. The main task now is to form effective mechanisms of ensuring security in the Asia Pacific, Antonov said. "Our approaches are aimed at forming a modern and fair configuration of equal, mutually beneficial and respectful inter-state relations in the region. We propose to construct this security system with reliance on supremacy of international law, principles of security indivisibility, peaceful settlement of disputes, non-use of force or threat of force," Antonov said. "We see the main task in the development of the single consolidates document on the basis of national initiatives that were put forward. Indonesian colleagues carried out a great work in this sphere," he noted. Read more
