Situation in Hua Hin returns to normal

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, THAILAND, August 23 (TNA) - International visitors are now welcome to Hua Hin as usual as the situation there has already returned to normal, prompting local authorities to have closed a special security center set up in the wake of a recent violence in the seaside area of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South. Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Tawee Narissirikul told journalists of the update on Tuesday, noting, however, that security officers remain stationing in Hua Hin to provide security to international tourists and the general public. Besides, more close-circuit televisions (CCTV) are being installed to cover all public areas to boost confidence among locals and international tourists, while a district working task force has also been formed to evaluate and monitor the updated situation to maintain peace and order. Hua Hin District Chief Sutthipong Klai-udom told reporters, meanwhile, that the night life area in Soi Bintabat, hit by a bomb attack recently, will be turned to be a walking street with regular tourist activities set to be held from August 26 onwards amid tightened security measures for the sake of public safety. The chair of a local beer bar club, Punyanut Woranut, said that 300 entrepreneurs in Soi Bintabat are ready to work with government agencies to revive local tourism and restore confidence among international travelers in Hua Hin.
